I paired it with images from my series Inquietude, which fit well given the contemplative nature of the conversation. Check it out to learn about my self-care routine and what inspires me.

Thank you to Laurie Freitag for choosing my image Selves as one of the top images of 2025. It’s fitting that my image titled Portal from my series Blue was selected by Ann Jastrab for the show Portal at A Smith Gallery. Thank you, Ann! It was lovely meeting Amanda and Kevin via zoom and learn about their gallery, which shows so much beautiful work. They also chose my image to be a part of The 27, a limited edition hard bound book that accompanies the show. They also did an artist talk and read a small statement I prepared so be sure to check out both links.

A Fervent and Necessary Arrangement - Midwest Nice Art
I was really excited when I saw the call for a fervent and necessary arrangement from Midwest Nice Art. This collective is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota – just a few hours from where I grew up in Brookings, South Dakota. How wonderful to see contemporary photography being promoted from my home state! I also love how inventive this call is, using a line from a Mary Oliver poem. A huge thank you to curator André Ramos-Woodard for including my video piece Murmurations. This is the first time I’ve submitted one of my video pieces to an open call, so it’s such an honor to be included. When I saw the theme, I thought instantly of this piece, since as I was shooting it, I felt the orbs were little souls being ferried to the beyond. Please click the link in my bio to see the rest of the wonderful work included in the show. Here is an excerpt from the poem:
Sometimes
Mary Oliver
Something came up
out of the dark.
It wasn’t anything I had ever seen before.
It wasn’t an animal
or a flower,
unless it was both.
Something came up out of the water,
a head the size of a cat
but muddy and without ears.
I don’t know what God is.
I don’t know what death is.
But I believe they have between them
some fervent and necessary arrangement.

Exhibition Curation for Duluth Art Institute
I really enjoyed curating this show of student work from the University of Minnesota Duluth, presented at the Duluth Art Institute. I was truly impressed by the caliber of the work and loved the challenge of bringing the student pieces together under the theme I chose (Within // Without). Huge thanks to professors Gloria Bush and Kristen Pless for the opportunity. I had a fantastic time working with Madeline Kayser to bring this show together!
You can view the exhibition through the Bloomberg Connects app. There’s both a digital and an analog component. Just scan the QR code in the image below to check out both exhibitions.
